The Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference by a score of 133-125. Julius Erving, who was known for his patented moves above the rim, paralyzed the West’s tall and talented defense by drawing key fouls. Erving finished the game with 16 points, ten of which came from the free throw line. The Eastern Conference’s offensive attack was also headed by Larry Kenon, star forward for the San Antonio Spurs, who also dished out 16 points.

Bulls center Artis Gilmore also contributed to the West’s cause. Gilmore used his 7 foot 2 inch frame to muscle in ten points for the West.
